What the Book of Genesis Says About Personal Finances
Gary North

Genesis is the book of origins. It begins with these words: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (1:1).

Genesis establishes God's legal claim to the whole creation. This includes mankind. This includes you. This includes everything you own. This is not in the past tense. This is in the present tense. It will also be in the future tense.

We find rules governing personal finances in this book. All of these rules, as with all other rules in the Bible, begin with this principle: everything belongs to God. He has the legal authority to set the rules because He created everything. He also has the legal authority to enforce the rules. He does enforce these rules.
